Library Card

1 To APPLY IN PERSON, visit the library for an application and assistance.
2 To APPLY FROM ONLINE, click here.
An active SCPL card is required to borrow in-library materials and access electronic resources; online materials also require a PIN.
Per SCPL policy, adults age 18 and up show photo identification (e.g. driver’s license, voter registration) and verify current address to obtain a free SCPL card. Use of the card indicates an accepted responsibility for materials borrowed and fines/charges incurred.
Youth under the age of 18 may obtain a library card with adult permission. The adult must have an SCPL card in good standing and sign for the youth card, accepting responsibility for materials borrowed and fines/charges incurred with the card.
Accounts are active for one year. Cardholder information must be verified with the library to remain active.
Readers may visit the library to complete an application or apply online.
FORWARD THE CONFIRMATION EMAIL WITH TEMPORARY INFORMATION to reference@scplwv.org to receive an active card number.
If applying for a youth card, specify in the forwarded email the name of the adult SCPL cardholder accepting responsibility for the account.
A return email will be sent with an active SCPL card number and PIN number (the last 4 digits of the primary phone number provided on the application).
The account will be active for 90 days. Visit the library to show photo identification, sign the application, receive your physical card, and be granted one year access.
If unable to visit the library, please call (304-744-6561) for assistance.
