Library Card Application & Online Borrower Registration
Getting a library card with SCPL is as easy as 1-2-3!
1 Per SCPL policy, adults age 18 and up show photo identification (e.g. driver’s license, voter registration) and verify current address to obtain a free SCPL card. Use of the card indicates an accepted responsibility for materials borrowed and fines/charges incurred.
Youth under the age of 18 may obtain a library card with adult permission. The adult must have an SCPL card in good standing and sign for the youth card, accepting responsibility for materials borrowed and fines/charges incurred.
2 Readers may visit the library to complete the application, or apply online.
If applying online, visit the SCPL Online Borrower Registration page (https://opac.scplwv.org:8486/) and complete the form as directed. Be sure to check the “send a confirmation email” option so you know your information was received.
Once you receive the automated confirmation email with your temporary barcode number (which is only a placeholder and not a workable number), forward the email to email@example.com.
*Youth cards (under age 18) require an adult card; if applying for both, please include names and both temporary numbers in the email. If the adult already has a card, please specify in the email.
Once we receive your email, we replace your temporary barcode number with an SCPL card number, activate your account, assign a PIN, and email you the information.
3 Visit the library or scplwv.org with your new SCPL card number and borrow away!
SCPL’s catalog of in-library resources and listings of electronic resources available to card holders are listed on our website: scplwv.org/resources.
A verified account with an active PIN is required to access, and cardholder information must be updated with the library once a year.
